Lady's Bedstraw (Galium verum) has been used throughout history, in the home as well as medicinally.

A German legend tells that Mother Mary's manger was lined with bracken and Lady's Bedstraw. For many years, it has been used as a mattress stuffing (helping to repel fleas and other insects), and it was considered good luck to use Lady’s Bedstraw in the mattresses of expecting mothers.
It was used to make cheese instead of rennet, and the yellow flowers were used to make a yellow dye for butter, cheese, hair, and clothing, while the red roots were used to make a deep red dye.
Lady's Bedstraw can help cleanse the blood via the lymphatic system, removing toxins and aiding in skin healing with eczema and psoriais, blackheads and tired skin, helping to regenerate and heal. It can be helpful for lymph glands and ovaries, heavy menstruation especially when struggling due to stress.
It has calming and pain relieving properties, which has shown to help people who are exhausted, weak and suffering from chronic internal diseases, internal ulcers, digestive upsets and to stimulate the metabolism for metabolic syndrome, bloating, cellulite and obesity.

Lady's Bedstraw is an easy-care herb, she will tolerate both moist/dry soil although prefers to not be in clay, in sun or part shade.
