In traditional herbalism, Dill is highly valued as a herb for calming digestive disorders, especially in children.

The name Dill is derived from the old Norse word dilla (to lull or soothe), because of it's carminative & stomachich properties.

Every part of the dill plant is edible, including its flowers and seeds.

It is wonderful in a tea at the end of a long day, or after some strong food! (very delicious paired with catnip and lemonbalm)

Dill has traditionally been used for:
  • Soothing stomach pain and gas
  • Colic in children
  • Oral health
  • Freshens breath
  • Helps all things digestive
  • Can ease insomnia
  • Maintains bone health
  • Helpful for diabetes and balancing insulin levels
  • Boosts the immune system
  • Helps to sooth hiccups
  • Calming congestion during a cold or allergies
  • Stimulates lactation and menstruation (be careful if you are pregnant!)
  • Can relieve pain and inflammation of sore muscles & arthritic conditions
  • Common cold, sore throat, cough and flu symptoms
  • Can ease non-productive cough, asthma and other bronchial conditions (thins and loosens phlegm)

Dill is also very nutritious -  vitamin A (7717 IU, or 154% of your daily recommended intake), vitamin C (85 mg, or 142% of your daily recommended intake), folate (about 38 percent of your recommended daily intake) and riboflavin (17% of your recommended intake). You'll also get small amounts of thiamin, niacin, vitamin B6, and pantothenic acid.

Minerals in dill include calcium (208 mg), iron (6.6 mg), magnesium (55 mg), phosphorus (66 mg), potassium (738 mg), manganese (1.3 mg), and small amounts of sodium, zinc, and copper.

Emotionally/Spiritually - Dill feels light in the mind, relieves tension, and it can assist in the power of intention. In those times when you want to help and start to take on the world, but end up feeling overwhelmed, Dill can help us understand that focusing on our own spiritual mission is where we can really make the most difference in the world. And it asks us to form that vision for ourselves.

In companion planting -  it pairs well with summer squash and zucchini, asparagus, cucumbers, and spinach.

Dill is also very delicious in cooking - fresh dill in salads, with pickles, potato salad, egg salad, soup and with fish (you don't need much).

All our herbs are organically grown in a recycled or compostable pot.
