Burn Jelly Plant (Bulbine frutescens), also known as Stalked Bulbine and Snake Flower, is an easy to grow, healing little succulent, and is a handy alternative to Aloe Vera.
The leaves are highly antioxidant and contain the same soothing and healing gel that Aloe Vera has, so can be used to help heal burns, blisters, sunburn, rashes, chapped lips, wounds, bleeding, skin infections, eczema, acne, mouth ulcers and ringworm.
To use, squeeze some gel from the leaves and use topically as you would Aloe Vera gel.
Burn Jelly Plant is fabulous for children to use, as it doesn't have the spikes that Aloe Vera does!
Traditionally in Africa, it is taken internally to help line the gut and heal leaky gut. It is also used to treat eczema both externally and internally, with great results.
Studies are also showing promising results in treating conditions related to HIV.
Burn Jelly Plant likes a sunny, well drained spot, rockeries or in containers on windowsills. She is quite drought resistant and easy to grow.
Organically grown, in a compostable or recycled pot.
